Can you imagine a world in which you are your best self; healthy, happy and engaged
with the world around you? Has pain or some imbalance in your work/life held
you back? It’s time to take charge of your health and create a healthier you. I am passionate and
committed to helping people live a healthier life through acupuncture. I know
acupuncture works because of my own journey with Chinese medicine.
In college, I studied English literature – Which awoke in me a desire for understanding people and how they are effected by their
environments. Following college, I obtained my license as a medical assistant
and began working in a fast-paced orthopedic clinic.
While there, I enjoyed my work with patients but began to be troubled by the volume of surgical referrals.
I began to wonder if there was another way.
In 2007, I developed a sharp pain in my foot and sought treatment from one of my
physician colleagues. My doctor told me I had a neuroma (an inflamed tendon) in
my foot and suggested it would go away on its own with rest. He suggested surgery as an option if it didn’t. I
didn’t want to have surgery but didn't know where to turn until a friend recommended
acupuncture. Within a few treatments the pain was gone and I was hooked! My
acupuncturist and I worked on issues ranging from pain, stress, insomnia,
digestive problems to general well being. Every time I walked out of my
acupuncturist’s office I felt lighter, at peace, and happy. This was a kind of healing I want to
be a part of.
Part of what drove me to explore acupuncture is my desire to know why. Why, for
instance, did my pain manifest in my foot. I had no answer for that and neither did my allopathic (Western) trained doctor.
Through my enrollment and training at the National College of Natural Medicine (NCNM), I gained an understanding
of how (environmental, physical and emotional) stress affects the body, organs
and channels. By looking outside of the box of allopathic (Western) medicine I
was introduced to an approach that has been in practice for 2000 years.
Suddenly everything made sense. Combined with my study of classic texts such as
the Nei jing and Shang han lun, I can develop a personalized plan of action to help.
Acupuncture and Chinese
medicine are a passion of mine. Everyone is a unique and fascinating mystery
just waiting to be unraveled. Every symptom is a clue that describes the
environment of their body. Armed with the tool of Chinese medicine I truly
believe that healing is not only possible but inevitable and I am excited to
help guide you along the road to living a healthy and pain free life.
